About Us

Wild Atlantic Way Antiques and Vintage in West Cork, Ireland, is the brainchild of John. Trained as an Artist and Photographer, he spent over twenty years with his own artistic design businesses in the UK.  In 2006, he moved to France with his wife Sue and their fluffy entourage of dogs and cats.

" We were involved in many restoration, renovation and interiors projects that led to the formation of our initial shop: 'French Antique and Vintage', - selling online, not just to the general public but also supplying film, theatre and commercial companies all over the world. At the same time, from our beautifully renovated 16th century house, in the Loire Valley, we were running ‘Antique Hunting Holidays France” – a successful venture drawing antiques enthusiasts from around the world who enjoyed holidays with us, trawling the lesser-known Brocantes and meeting the dealers that tourists don't usually see while being shown how to find the best items and negotiate the best prices, soaking up the rich atmosphere of the Loire Valley in France. 

After eleven years, looking for new adventures and wild scenery, we moved to the South West of Ireland – to the rugged coastline along the newly-named “Wild Atlantic Way”.  We now live right on the coast, with a garden going down to the sea, mountains behind us and we love it.  We have a small, jam-packed warehouse, with a massive amount of items that we bought in France and we have new stock arriving all the time - both from here in Ireland and through our business contacts in France and Italy. We tend to choose items for the shop that we like, rather than following trends - and our eclectic treasures range from mid-century modern to the truly ancient.  I (John) have a penchant for Art and Religious items, while Sue likes to ferret out interesting jewellery, ceramics and home furnishing pieces. Sometimes we find it really hard to let items go!"
