A fine example of a single French Antique Bronze Furniture pediment - decorated with Scrolls, Acanthus Leaves and Berries. Ideal for the decoration of a piece of furniture or an inner door frame. The pediment is what the French call "Bronze Doré", which is Gilt Bronze and is composed of Acanthus Leaves, Swags and Berries. It would be a great piece in a classical re-styling project, to fit above a door or on the top frame of a piece of classy furniture. It is 14" or 35cm wide and 3.25" or 8cm high. The depth is just under 1", so about 2cm. There is a foundry mark, 'EME', on the back from when it was cast in France in the late 1800's. This is a Chateau Salvage piece and came from the French Loire Valley area. The pediment is in cast bronze with an aged gilt finish and two fixing holes.
