Antique French Carved Wooden Panel - French Highly Decorative

We were extremely lucky to be in the right place at the right time - we were in Saumur in France and passed a massive renovation project; the building itself was being renovated and we were so grateful to be offered some of the decorative wooden pieces and panels to buy - before they followed the rest of the furniture into the fire.

This single panel is made from finely carved Dark Oak and dates from around 1800; it had been backed by another board that has just about all been removed. The carved decorations have a regal style and show long curling leaves above a small crown with roundels standing on a base. The carving has been hand-worked by a true craftsman, and the background is finished in a small punched pattern. The deep carving is incorporated in a frame - the whole item has been made from a single piece of wood. The panel has a lovely dark sheen after many years of polish; this would be a great decorative item or interior design piece; for instance it would look fabulous incorporated into the cabinetry of a modern Kitchen or perhaps a Dining Nook or Snug. A classical upgrade could be perfected by the addition of just this one item.

Measuring 15" or 38cm high by 5" or 23cm wide and about 1" or 2.5 cm deep, and without packaging weighing 0.75 kg.
