A superb and stylish desk set for a bird lover: a pair of beautiful Art Deco Stylised Woodpecker Bookends together with a superb Crested Finch beside an Inkwell - the birds are all cast in spelter with a bronze verdigris finish and mounted on taupe and grey veined marble. The marble plinths are three quarters of an inch thick, with the birds and inkwell firmly attached with a heavy screw all the way through. The birds, all by the same sculptor or artist, have been designed in a sleek Art Deco style and look stunning in the bronze-green verdigris finish that complements the colour of the marble beautifully. The square Inkwell very unusually still has the original glass liner inside - and although it is a little chipped it is still usable. The wide oval base for the Crested Finch and Inkwell has a recess along the front to lay a pen; the bookends are on rectangular bases, each with a high rising side to support books, cd's, etc. The entire set is in good, vintage condition having obviously been used and loved but very well looked after. This is a very heavy set due to the amount of marble and will be very well packed for shipping.
