Antique Boxed Set of 12 French Silver-plated Tea Spoons Orféverie Liberty - Flatware in Display Case - French Silverware - K3/355
A beautifully boxed set of twelve silver plated tea / coffee / dessert spoons. Produced by the French company 'ORFEVERIE LIBERTY' (Orfèverie is the word for a Goldsmith and Silversmith) in the 1920s, these spoons are heavily plated - 18 grammes. Each bears the marks of the silver thickness and the maker. Orfeverie Liberty was created in 1920 after the end of the First World War and named for the American troops that paraded the streets at that time.
This lovely set of spoons has a stylish 1920's Art Deco design of plain lines that is simple yet very elegant. They are packed in their original hinged royal blue leather-effect case, satin lined and embossed on the inside of the lid with the supplier's name, the jeweller Bouisson of Chinon. The case closes with two little clips at the front. The spoons are double hallmarked with the 18gr meaning each one is plated with eighteen grams of silver - indicating very high quality - plus it has the makers mark. This is a superb set of antique spoons just waiting to become new 'family heirlooms' in the 21st and 22nd Centuries. They would make a superb wedding gift!
