A superbly designed 1920's Art Deco Table Fruit Bowl, or Centrepiece - with a diameter of 14" or nearly 36cm, this gorgeous piece of Vintage Glassware from France deserves to take centre place. Made from a smokey grey crystal glass with a stunning beach or wave theme - Sea Foam - the swirly of waves carries all around the shallow bowl and towards the base becomes wavy lines - much as the ones you might see on the sand, when the sea has gone out. A very clever and eye-catching piece of glass art. In French, it is a 'Compotier de Verre'.
Standing at 3" or 7.5cm high including the base, the bowl has capacity for an assortment of fruits or other items for display - but when empty, it is a display of its own. The glass bowl is attached to the silver chromed metal base with an engineered silver stepped-washer chromed circular fixing; a threaded bar goes through the glass to the underneath of the base where it is attached with a square silver nut. The base itself, in an octagonal shape, carries on the 'stepped' design with off-set octagonal steps leading up to the flat circular base for the bowl. This is not just a table centre-piece, it is a serious piece of engineering!
A glorious piece, weighing 2.25kg without any packaging. Absolutely perfect original condition, no chips or cracks - this lovely bowl cannot be underestimated.
