Huge Antique French Chateau Copper Kitchen Mould - 1800's

This is very rare and extra large example of a copper mold or mould ( depends if you use English English or American English ) with an impressed decoration - that will look beautiful creating any pudding, jelly (jell-o) or pie that is turned out of this gorgeous item. Frequently used in large houses  and French Chateaux of times past, where the staff 'downstairs' would cook up sumptuous meals or their 'upstairs' employers and their guests - copper items such as this are now often used for decorative purposes. The warm copper glow looks wonderful in a large kitchen or refectory. Dating from the late 1800's, this is a fine item; quite heavy, so the postage cost is quite high but tis is included in the price.
It has similar decorative lines to a Galette Pan but obviously a lot wider and deeper but for very special occasions who knows what the mists of time have seen. It came from one of the large houses in the city of Richelieu. This city or walled town is famous as being the one created by the Cardinal Richelieu of the Three musketeers fame. 
The body of the mold is of copper and there are two sturdy metal carrying handles, one at each side, firmly riveted to the bowl. As you can see, we haven't fully polished so as to leave some of its age and patina..........gorgeous. The handles mean it is great for hanging and creating a stunning and eye catching centrepeice. Perfect as a window or shop display in a Bakers or Patisserie 

The dimensions are 6" / 150mm high or deep with a bowl diameter of 14" / 355mm and with the handles 18' / 455mm. It weighs 1.4kg or 3lb.
This item is certainly usable but we would certainly advise getting it tinned first or using a foil lining.
