This is a highly, highly unusual picker by a famous French Silversmith. In a true art deco style with good thickness of silver plating and highly engineered, we acquired this item from one of the many great antique emporiums in Nice. This is a great quality find and would make a fantastic talking point on any table, be it for a dinner party, tea party or similar or for the ultimate cocktail set to add olives to Martinis or sugar cubes to Absinthe.
We have a number of these in slightly different designs in our shop, all in very good condition - however this is by far the best. This little Picker comes in its own box, satin-lined. The outer cover of the box is in a super classy snakeskin effect in a dusky powder blue colour. The box is hinged and has a silver coloured classic clasp. The picker length is 5.25" or 13.5cm. In an exceptionally stylish Art Deco design, the picker has only two 'prints' instead of the usual three; these are shaped like curved fingers; The maker François Frionnet is marked on the side and the hallmarks are on the opposing side. Inside is the mark for the trademark applied for.
Sometimes we think the French are so clever ! These elegant French vintage Pickers from the 1960's are fun to use even if you don't take sugar. Push down on the end of the handle and the claws open smoothly to pick up your chosen item...... sugar cube..... Pickles ..... or something a bit more interesting......in their slightly serrated three-pronged jaws. French Silver Plated - a work of art..
