Rare Full Set of Antique French Heavy Aluminium Kitchen Canisters

We have a full set of these available as shown in the photos - canisters such as these are extremely rare. We have only ever seen this shape in ceramic versions of Kitchen Containers - and the makers might have used the same moulds as they are amazingly thick. Aluminium canisters are normally very thin and light-weight due to the strength of the material.

These are classic post-war (WW1) kitchen items. Usefully, they stack one inside the other for storage when not in use. Every bit as stylish today as they were back in the 'twenties, they are made from solid aluminium not long after the war when this was THE material to use for everything in the home. The light blue painted decoration is in the form of embossed text and lines in an Art Deco Style on the front of each container, together with the content description in capital letters. At over ninety years of age, they have been pre-owned and pre-loved and show signs of their age. The aluminium has darker areas, some rough to the touch. We have given the canisters a light clean but overall they are in as-found condition; the beautiful light blue paint is worn in places. This is a superb set of genuine, original, untouched collector's items.

They are marked for in French for Tea, Coffee, Flour, Sugar and Spices.

Sized with the most expensive item (Spices) to go in the smallest canister and the cheapest (Flour) in the largest. So, are marked: EPICES, THÉ, CAFÉ, SUCRE and FARINE. They range in size from 3.5" (9cm) high to 7.5" (19cm) high.   The complete set without any packaging weighs a hefty 2.65 kg.
