Signed French Rose Crystal - Vintage French Hand Cut Crystal Charger - Wide Glass Platter with Shallow Bowl - K3/345
This is a superb item - a large rose glass or rose crystal charger - completely hand blown, hand cut and signed by the glass artist. Made in France in the early 1950's, the charger bears the pontil mark from when it was made and separated from the glassmaker's punty rod.
The charger / bowl os 14.5" wide and has a very shallow bowl, so could be used as a display item on its own or used to show decorative items to their best effect. The hand cut markings of the underside of the charger are beautifully made and reminiscent of ice crystals, especially those that form on panes of glass. The decoration is in an Art Deco style, made of a series of hand cut frosted backgrounds to circles, line, blocks and squares, incorporating the signature of the artist - which we have found difficult to read. The heavy crystal glass is in a dusky rose colour and this is a gorgeous item to use as a table centrepiece.
The glass shows age at the base where it has been used on a flat surface that has left some scratches and on the face of the bowl there are also some scratches, possibly from being used as a display base for another ornamental item. This does not detract from the elegance of the item which would be termed as Good Vintage Condition.
The platter measures 14.75" or 37cm in diameter and stands at 1.5" or nearly 4cm high. The shallow bowl in the centre measures 3.5" (9cm) at the minimum, very gradually widening as it rises.
The weight, with no packaging is 1.6 kg. An absolutely wonderful piece of glass craftsmanship.
