Freestanding 15 Inch Mid Century French Coromandel Crucifix on Wide Stepped Plinth - with Satin Wood Inlay - RC168

A gorgeously and unusual French freestanding Alter Crucifix from the Mid Twentieth Century. The wooden parts are constructed from Coromandel with a Satinwood inlaid centre. The base of the wooden crucifix has been stepped and displays the grain of this wonderful wood very well. The cross is of a very slim construction that portrays a sense of real elegance and presence to the piece. The silver coloured metal Corpus is crafted in a very simple style and appears to have been cast in aluminium and left in its natural colour.

Although slim and elegant this is quite a heavy piece due to the materials it is constructed from. A lovely item in exceedingly fine vintage condition.

Overall dimensions of the cross: 12.5" high by 6" wide (32 x 15 cm), the base is 5.5" or 14cm wide and the depth is 2.15" or 5.5cm. The weight unpackaged is 0.35 kg.
