Early 20th Century Gorgeous Antique Frame - Male Portrait Photo - French Antique Portrait in Original Frame - AQ2/47
From circa. early 1900's we have this gorgeously aged photograph in a 'Typically French' decorative wooden frame. The original glass is still in place, completing the character and a sense of its history. In the photograph the gentleman is wearing a beret and a thIn tie, tied in a bow. He doesn't look particularly well-off, and appears to be in his best clothes. The enhancement to the original photograph can clearly be seen where the photographer has accentuated lines and shadows. As with other portraits that we have, this chap has resided in his frame for over one hundred years, so will stay with the frame when it is sold. The photo can easily be replaced (or remain underneath a new image), although we often find that buyers like to invent a story about their newly acquired photograph of a long lost relative...
The frame is made of dark wood and is superbly finished with an edge of fine beading and decorative carving and the area for portrait is adorned with a wooden bow in the shape of a heart, a finishing tough often seen on furniture and frames of that period in France. This frame does not have any hanging cord of fixtures attached. A beautifully made wooden frame that would bring a touch of French glamour to any room.
The overall dimensions are 22" x 18" and the items weighs just under 2kg without any packaging.
