French Train Drivers Medal : Vintage Silver Metal - Awards for Service and Devotion to the French Republic - MT26
An interesting Silver long service medal / award for Work as a Train Driver for twenty five years in France., Honour and devotion to the French Republic. Nice additions for a collector. The medal was designed by ouis-Oscar Roty usually known as Oscar Roty (11 June 1846 – 23 March 1911) was one of the most celebrated medallists of the Art Nouveau period. It was awarded to Eugene Schamberger in 1932 for twenty five years service as a train driver by the French Ministry of Work.
It comes in the original box from its world famous Parisian makers Arthus Bertrand & Cle 46 Rue de Rennes Paris who started producing medals in 1803 and are still in business today but from a different location - Arthus Bertrand 52 Rue Bonaparte 75006 Paris. This medal would make a super display, perhaps in a frame or as part of a greater collection.
