Unusual Antique Embellished French Crucifix with Decorative End Pieces - 15"- France Empire Style 1800s - Wall Hanging French Crucifix - RC160

A highly unusual, very old Crucifix; with highly unusual Napoleonic or Empire Style adornment to the ends of the crucifix. The cross is in almost perfect condition with a slightly worn bronzed Corpus which is very well cast with good detail and this has been well polished over the years. 
The wooden cross has a soft sheen to its walnut veneered front, with the unusual Napoleonic or Empire style ends of the early 1800's 15" in height and 9.5" in width (37 x 25cm).  The body of Christ is 5.5" high and 4" wide (14 x 10cm).  The total weight is 350g without any packaging. The corpus and INRI is attached to the cross with pins. The original brass loop is attached to the back of the wooden cross, for wall mounting
The end caps with their swags and Laurel Wreaths over flutted columns may well have been designed to fit original on to furniture but affixed to this Crucifix they give it a wonderful sense of grandure. This a truly unusual and outstanding item.
