French Art Deco Advertising Sign - Champagne from Caves De L'Abbaye - G Tessier Fils - Antique French Champagne Sign - D144

This is a true original - definitely not a reproduction.......as such, it is an absoloute delight!

We were hugely lucky to find this wonderful plaque made from a thick, compressed card that has been embossed and coloured with a high quality print, on a cream background.  Overall this is in exceedingly good condition and would be appreciated by any champagne lover. Dating from the 1920's, the sign appears unused and the French antique dealer we bought it from has been keeping it in as perfect condition as possible. Many reprductions of this image are available on auction sites as posters, often repaired - but this is a superb original.

Gustave Tessier Brothers were the vintners at the Caves de L'Abbey. Although technically not producers of Champagne but of Method Traditional  sparkling wine this item depicts one of their bottles along with the crest that is used by them as a trade mark.  A superb interior designer's piece, for a wine bar, cellar or similar..............

It has a hanging fixing attached to the rear and is of of such an incredibly high quality that it would simply not be cost-effective to produce a similar sign today. These highly decorative signs advertised the wines produced by the terroir of the Caves de L'Abbaye, France. 
It is 16.5" / 41cm high by 13"/ 33cm wide and weighs 200grms without packaging.
