Vintage French Wooden Bat Carved Sculpture - Vespertilio - Naive Hand Carved and Sculpted in a Light Wood - D146

We found this wonderful little chap in the commune of Bats in the Landes Departement of Nouvelle Aquitaine in South West France. He was carved years ago in the area for obvious reasons. This may be naive in style but it surely is lovely, full of great charm and character.
An ideal gift for a 'Goth', Bat Lover or perhaps a Teenage Witch !.

 He was carved by the vendor's father when he was at school on the 1950's; it is still in good condition with a crack to the rear that only goes half way through - highly decorative, with a hole at the back to take a hook or nail. Carved from a lightweight wood with no paint or vanrish applied.
The carving is 9" or 23cm in wide, and is 5.5" or 14cm both wide and 1" or 2.5cm deep. He weighs 150 grams.
