Antique French Gold Leaf or Ormolu Bronze Furniture Pediment / Decorative Plaque  Late Baroque Style with Shell, Flowers and Swags  - AS71

This wonderful Antique French Bronze Plaque or furniture pediment in the Rococo or Late Baroque Style capital depicts a Venetian-style Shell with Laurel Leaves as swags. The central scroll contains leaves attached to two flower buds or perhaps cobnuts to depict plenty and wealth. The flowers are then continued to either side.

This piece is beautifully cast in solid bronze and dates from the late 1800s or early 1900's, but is in amazing condition with only the small dotted foxing to the front that you can see in the photos. this just gives you  a patina that only comes with age and wear. 

It came from the Loire Valley in France, where the great river is lined with the fabulous chateaux that belonged to Royalty and the wealthy before the French Revolution.

A wonderful bespoke decorator's piece.........a great item for a home stylist, remodeller or anyone wanting to make classical renovations to their furniture. Such a beautiful item from France will surely make a wonderful centrepiece in its eventual home.

This classical piece, in original condition with the patina of its age measures 16"/410mm long by 4"/100mm and weighs just under 0.55 kilograms or 1.2 pounds. There are four holes in the bronze for attachment.
