French Desk Lamp - 1960s - Pair of ARMELEC  Desk Lamps - Bakelite Base - Industrial or Office Lamp - Vintage Lamp - Pair of Lamps - LT102

A pair of French Vintage Desk Lamps or Office Lamps; made in the Nineteen Sixties by the French firm ARMÉLEC in a very modern industrial yet Art Deco style. Very simple lines, with the bases and shades made of brown Bakelite - brilliant design work and the Bakelite has the lines of the manufacture process running through giving it an extra silky depth - almost like a watermark on silk fabric. Difficult to do justice to this material in a photograph, they are physically very attractive. The bases are slim but weighted to give them good balance and stability - they would not easily be knocked over. Professionally rewired in 2020 to UK Safety Standards, the lamps have had new silver grey corded wiring fitted, complementing the chrome finish of the arms. The lamps will be supplied without plugs so you can fit the correct one for your country.

Each lamp can be posed to the required height and angle by bending the chromed articulated arm. The bakelite bases carry the manufacturer's name ARMÉLEC OF FRANCE moulded in relief together with the company's logo which appears to be a stylised electrical bolt. The switches on the lamps are original and in great condition. A really classy part of the design is the triangular metal cradle that holds the light fitting in place. Overall the lamps are both in Good Vintage Condition, with both having some worn chips on the bottom rim of the base and one has a small chip at the back of the bakelite shade. Perfect desk lighting for the office or home office of today, they would also make great accent lighting or table lamps for an interior design project or ideal as a pair of bedside reading lamps. The style and elegance of these lamps would add a touch of illuminated design to any setting.

Fully extended upwards, the lamps stand at 18.5" or 47cm high; the width and depth are both 5" or 12.5cm in that extended position. The weighted bases give them extra stability and the pair together weigh 3.2kg, increasing the carriage cost to parcel rate which is included in the price.
