A large, curly Ram's Horn forms the base of this remarkable table lamp, made in France in the Nineteen Sixties. The base is made from a single curling magnificent Ram's Horn, measuring 10" high, that has been set onto a sturdy base of natural horn with small felt furniture protection pads attached. The base and horn together with the light fitting measure about 12". The lampshade for this table lamp is made from eight sections of natural vellum that have been painstakingly hand sewn to give a beautiful finish. The overall effect of this lamp is stunning and would suit a library or snug in traditional surroundings. Would be an ideal gift for someone interested in a bygone era, natural fabrics and natural history. A real statement piece for interior design.
The lamp originally came from the private quarters of a Chateau in the Loire Valley in France - the Chateau is open in part to the public, but this item was kept by the owner as part of a collection. We hope that we can introduce it to a new home where it will be cherished as much as it was before. The lamp and shade are in excellent condition having come from a non-smoking home environment.
