Antique French Gold Bébé Brooch in Box - Late 1800's Art Nouveau - Newborn Baby Gift - Golden Baby Brooch - J2/22
This superb little brooch, decorated on the front with the word 'bébé' in capital letters comes in it's original box. Dating from the late 1800's it was made in France during the Arn Nouveau Period. The tiny decorative sails at each end are understated Art Nouveau, fitting perfectly with the tiny size of the brooch itself. Measuring just 1.25" or 3cm across, the matt gold face has bright répoussé
letters, frame and decoration. The safety catch at the back is typical French entirely in keeping with precious items at that time - a tiny tube with a cap slides over the pin when in place and the brooch cannot be undone without lifting the cap to release the pin.
The box is original to the brooch; a cube shape with a hinged back and pale gold velvet mount and satin lining inside. The box snaps shut, with a tiny release catch on the outside. This brooch is in very good, original antique condition. A gorgeous item that would be a family heirloom for generations to come.
