War Memorabilia - Vintage French, English, American or German Trench Art Brooch Brooch - WW1 - J1/21
A simple silver coloured brooch in the shape of a long lozenge - it is not until you look closer that you can see it is made from two-back to-back bullet noses. The two parts have had a bit of history behind them and are a bit out of shape, but for the production of 'Trench Art', which this little brooch is - they are perfect. Frequently in the Trenches, soldiers would make small items from whatever they could find, swapping items and making the most unusual things out of scraps - keeping their hands and minds busy while waiting for orders.
Quite lightweight, the clip at the back is an early one so of course has no safety catch, which could be added later if desired. The original bronze colour of the bullet noses has been covered with a silver finish, giving it quite a different look; we usually see this kind of Trench Art in the natural colour.
The brooch is 2.5" across and would be an appreciated accessory for a lover of military.
