Vintage French porch or hall light - 1930s  - porch lantern - interior lantern light - brass and glass lantern - Country house lamp - LT102

In the UK this is the typical type of light that hangs or used to hang inside the entranceway or porch of a grand country house. This is a very nice example.
An interesting porch lantern. It has a thick central tube of cut glass that  has a bevel-edged square pattern or design cut into it with each square being around 1.5" or 40mm, making it that much better than the plain glass cylinder ones. This means the light is sent out and reflected in wonderful patterns on the wall. The main frame is cast brass. The lamp holder and some of the screws have been replaced during the PAT testing process. It has an E27 screwing bulb fitting but this can easily be changed should you wish. We will include the special Edison type bulb shown in the photos.
This is a super piece where even the chain leading to the ceiling gallery has decoration on it. It is a mix of styles with leaves, scrolls and pommels.  Difficult to put an exact date on - but certainly vintage and probably produced in France, Spain or even Italy.

The dimensions are for the lantern itself 14" 360mm high, 9" 230mm wide and with the chain and rose it hangs to a depth of 21.5" or 545mm. It weighs in at 3.15kg or 7lb - so quite a substantial item.
