Notre Dame de Lourdes - Antique French Silver Holy Mary Religious Medallion - Virgin Mary Pendant - Pilgrim Medallion - RM108

A 1920's French Pendant Medallion from Lourdes - one side shows the profile of Holy Mary, the Virgin Mother; the other shows a shrine of the Virgin Mary with the words : 
In French: Notre Dame de Lourdes - Priez Pour Nous"    or in English: "Our Lady of Lourdes - Pray for Us"

A beautifully crafted antique silver metal medallion - this is French Silver Plate but is not marked as is often the case. We know the medal was purchased during a pilgrimage in the 1920's and that it remained within the same family until 2017, when we purchased it. The medallion is 1.25" (or 3cm) in diameter with an additional 0.25" (0.75cm) hanging loop attached so that the medallion can be worn as a pendant with a suitable chain, os hung in a display. The decoration is very dainty with little flowers and decorative swirls and markings. Since the photographs have been taken, the medallion has had a buff with a silver cloth and has really come up nicely with a bright shine with the antique Silver Plate having some wear from handling on either side of the shrine image.  A lovely antique item  that would make a gorgeous antique gift for Christmas.
