Hand Tinted WW2 War Artsit Limited Edition Print - Military Prints - Allied Frces on The Road to Alencon - MT2/24

We have been lucky to find three copies of this Limited Edition, Numbered Print from the collection of a French collector in central France. The illustration in charcoal depicts what appears to be an American Tank and soldiers  moving forward to the French City of Alençon, passing the bodies of fallen German soldiers and their artillery. They really show the feeling of tension and you almost feel you are there, although this is only a charcoal sketch with a pale yellow highlight wash.

The print measures 13" by 9.75" (33 x 24.75cm); it is unframed, printed on thick card/paper. There is some light discolouration of the card which is a cream base colour. The pale yellow highlight is along the left, showing the road ahead. The Allied Forces entered Alençon after Operation Overlord, in June 1944.

In the bottom left corner there is a sketch portrait of General De Gaulle. In the Botton right corner there is the original signature of the artist. These are Limited Edition Prints of the original sketch Hand Colour Wash and we have Numbers  709, 711 and 712  of the one-thousand print edition. Number 709 has a slight crease at the top right hand corner. 

Although signed, we cannot decipher the signature  (E Morin / Forin ...?) so currently the artist is unknown.
