World War One Memorabilia - Antique English or British, Sweet Heart Embroidery - Embroidered Flags - British Navy -WW1 Militaria - M130

A fantastic example of a sailors silk or sometimes known as wool work embroidery artwork.

This a wonderful piece of nostalgic art is no longer in its frame, unfortunately it was damaged. We have not reframed the item for ease of shipping and this gives the buyer the choice of an appropriate frame. 
This will have been created for a sweetheart or wife by their man out at sea and it is probably her in the photo, or perhaps by him whilst out at sea for this loved one at home and the photo added alter. It shows A British Ensign, Red Ensign, Union Flag, Blue Ensign plus two others we cannot be sure of the other two but possibly the gold one is the Standard of Scotland but cannot get the green one ( if any one knows please contact us ). The central motive is headed by a crown and hold a photograph of a lady, this can be removed and replaced with another should you wish. Beneath is a floral motif with one side in bud the other in bloom perhaps a secret message of love and fruitfulness.
This is a very large example and in great condition.

The Full piece is inc paper surround is 24" or 600mm  x 20"or 500mm the fabric itself is 21" or 535mm x 18.5" or 470mm. It would be an appreciated accessory for a lover of military.
