Looking a little unloved; well painted, slightly shabby but oh so chic. This French Still life by P. Roze has so much charm - a study of strawberries tumbling from a painted plate that has slipped from the shelf and is rolling over grapes, with a vase of wildflowers in the background. The deep original wooden frame is finished in a rippled cream cream colour with golden paint just touching the raised tops of the tiny ridges. The inner frame is painted in a very light cream colour so that it looks like a mount. There is some surface wear to the frame as would bexpected for the age.

Signed by the artist P Roze who, although we can find no real information about them, was considered a talented enough artist to be included in the collection of the Paris Art Dealer's estate from which we purchased a number of early 20th Century paintings.  The style of this still life shows great ability with deft brush marks and easy use of colour and it would look great in any collection. Painted in oil on wooden board, there is an amount of peeling of the artist's paint due to the lack of any base or under coat applied to the wooden panel, however this enhances this patina. 

Measuring 9" (22.75m) high by 11.5" (28.5cm) wide and 1.15" (3cm) deep, The framed image weighs 355grammes without any packaging.
