Antique French Mother of Pearl Rosary - Silver Plated Crucifix - French 59 Bead Rosary - RR110
A beautifully crafted traditional Antique Rosary from France - made in the very early 1900's. The slim silver crucifix itself is a silver two part design of cross and corpus. The rosary has fifty nine squared Mother of Pearl beads - made from solid natural Mother of Pearl, each one is different. The small medallion with the relief image of Our Lady with a halo has the words "o marie concue sans peche priez pour nous 1830"
- or " o mary conceived without sin pray for us 1830" and has a small icon for The Sacred Heart on the reverse. The date 1830 does not mean that was when it was made, but these are called Miraculous Medals after the date St Catherine Labouré reported seeing a vision of Mary.
This is a very beautiful item in perfect antique condition. It would make a wonderful gift for a baptism, Christening, or a treasure to mark a First Communion, etc.
It weighs around 25grams so quite heavy for a rosary, the Corona is around 25" or 625mm long and the chain between the cross and the centre medal known as the pendant is 6" or 150mm. Finally the Crucifix is 1.5" or 40mm tall. The Pater beads are around 0.3" or 7mm and the Ave are 0.2" or 4mm.
Your purchase will be carefully packed in recycled wrappings where possible and despatched by An Post or Courier Service.
