This incredible Antique Italian Rosary features the heraldic Crest of the Discalced Carmelite Order. The Rosary is made from Silver White Metal with Moonstone Beads; each little medallion carries the crest of the Order on one side and a Christian image on the other. An interesting and unusual item that would make a wonderful gift.
The Discalced Order of Carmelites is an off-shoot from the Carmelite Order; refusing to wear shoes, they choose to either go barefoot or wear sandals.
The Central Medallion is of 'Rosa Mystica' - the Mystical Rose, which refers to the Virgin Mary. On the reverse of her medallion there is an image of a pilgrim receiving her blessing. This is a Fifty Nine Beaded Rosary , intended for the catholic Faith and Prayers. The Crucifix carries the Carmelite Cross as a Halo behind the Head of Christ, and the back of the Crucifix is adorned with Roses, for the Rosa Mystica. Between the Crucifix and the central medallion, there are four Pater Medallions with five Ave Beads. This is a gorgeously made, intricate item, full of history with many stories on the little medallions to be unravelled.
