French Silver Antique Mary Rosary - Mother of Pearl Beaded Rosary - French c.1900 - Delicately Cut Solid Silver - RR105
A 'Mary' Rosary from France, circa.1910. The Rosary is termed 'Mary' as it has a filigree version of the letter 'M' instead of a centre medallion. The M has been beautifully cut and shaped, as has the Crucifix below. The solid silver filigree cross is 1.75" (4.5cm) long and has subtle grooves and engraving that catch the light perfectly.
This is a Fifty Nine Bead Rosary and each of the beads is made from a perfectly cut piece of Mother-of-Pearl with lager Pater beads and smaller Ave beads so the Rosary is slightly heavier than many others. The beads are a natural product and they are almost, but not exactly identical in cut. Both the Crucifix and the Central 'M' are made from solid, French Silver and carry the stamp of the maker, tiny though it is. A very special Antique item in Excellent Antique Condition - it is 'As Found' and has had only a very light clean.
