Antique French F T Badonvillier -  Chrysantheme Badonviller Small Chrysanthemum / Butterfly Bowl - Late 1800's  - French Ceramics - CH1/34

This is one of the first ceramic patterns produced by Théophile Fenal and is highly sought after: the Chrysantheme or Chrysanthemum pattern. The decoration is in a pale, almost pastel blue that gives it a fantastic, ethereal look. It would bring that touch of France elegance to any room. Together with the flowers of the design, there is a butterfly; one on the outside and one at the centre of the bowl. A superb decorative piece.

The bowl is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks, but is does have the general air of wear about it. It has been used for over one hundred and twenty years, sh why wouldn't it!
Standing at just 2" / 5cm high and 6" / 15cm wide, the bowl without packaging weighs just 200 grams.

The history of the earthenware factory of Badonviller starts in 1828. In that year Nicolas Fenal became the owner of a pottery in Pexonne which was established in 1710. After his death in 1857 his sons and nephews took over the factory and the mark FF (Fenal Frères) was born.   In 1897, one of the nephews, Théophile Fenal, started an earthenware factory in Badonviller, in direct competiton to the factory of his family in Pexonne.
