This is a very nice example of a European Roller it originates from an Italian friends collection and dates from the early 1900's and hails from Southern Italy. It has retained great colour as it was kept behind glass and away from direct sunlight.

The Blue Bellied roller (Coracias cyanogaster) it is a member of the Roller family and breeds across Africa in a narrow belt from Senegal to northeast Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is resident, apart from some local seasonal movements, in mature moist savannah dominated by Isoberlinia trees. Its overall range extends into the Middle East, Central Asia and Morocco. This bird is found in a wide variety of habitats, avoiding only treeless plains. It winters primarily in dry wooded savanna and bushy plains, where it typically nests in tree holes.
Originally, the bird was on a very poor wall mount; it has now been remounted, placed on on a second piece of driftwood to show him of to the very best effect.
It weighs 370gr / 13oz, stands 10" / 250mm tall, 11" / 280mm wide and 8.5" / 215mm deep.
