A very good Vintage example of the Irish Taxidermy style - a Taxidermied young female Grey Heron from the Nineteen Thirties. The Grey Heron is a large, long-legged predatory wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia and also parts of Africa. It is resident in much of its range, but some populations from the more northern parts migrate southwards in autumn.
This is a particularly fine Irish example from the first half of the last century; the way she has been prepared and styled shows a large degree of experience and professionalism..
Dimensions :- 720mm / 28.25” tall 500mm / 20" from beak to tail and on a gravel textured wooden base that is 250mm / 10” wide. The bird and mount together weigh 1.22 kg without any packaging.
