Vintage Irish Taxidermy: a Large Cock Pheasant and his lovely Hen - set onto a naturalistic nest-like base. They have been preserved by a true Irish professional Taxidermist in the Nineteen Nineties who has managed to sympathetically reproduce the way that a male Ring-necked Pheasant will protect his female. They both have beautiful, healthy plumage; he in particular has lovely neck colours, and, it has to be said - a very long tail.
This is probably the best example of its kind we have ever found; nesting pairs of birds are not so common - and comes from an Irish family well known to us.
Dimensions including tail feathers are :- 710mm / 28” long, 500mm / 20” high and on a painted papier-mâché on board base that is 500mm / 20” wide. Without any packaging, the pair together with the base weigh 2677 grammes.
