Vintage Taxidermy - Californian Quail - Callipepla californica - from 1950- posed on varnished wooden Mount - TX1/70

All Taxidermy items in our shop are at least vintage and most are antique. This is a wonderful Mid Century example of a Male Californian Quail from a collection in Italy that we purchased - but we are unsure of his true origin.

The California quail, also known as the California Valley Quail or Valley quail, is a small ground-dwelling bird in the New World quail family. These birds have a curving crest or plume, made of six feathers, that droops forward: black in males and brown in females; the flanks are brown with white streaks.

He only weighs 150 grams including the base and stands 8" / 200mm tall from bottom of the base to tip of his plume, 8" / 200mm long from beak to tail and 2.75" /65mm wide.
A beautiful little freestanding bird with a sweet expression.

Your purchase will be carefully packed ( if possible using recycled materials ) and shipped using the Irish Postal system An Post
