Antique French or Black Forest Carved Wooden Basket of Flowers

This is a stunning museum quality piece of carving that has been hanging on someone's wall since being removed from its original position a very long time ago. Carved from a single piece of Walnut this is a really amazing portrayal of a basket of flowers, the basket shows a deep-cut chevron woven pattern of four willow strands, with the two outer strands being thicker than the two inner. The basket encompasses an arrangement of roses, peonies etc, with forget-me-nots above (for love and remembrance) all surround by leaves. It has an original fixing of a bent metal eye in place place and only slight aged knocks but these only add to its history and charm.  

This item is over 200 years old and has been very well cared for indicating that it has held a special place in the heart. A beautiful, aged piece of timber, delicately carved by hand with love tokens that would be a gift to show sincere appreciation to a mother, daughter or sweetheart.

Measuring 5.5"/14cm high by 6"/15cm wide and just under 1.75"/4cm deep, the item without packaging weighing a heavy 250gr.
