French Gold Pin - Delicate Gold Flower Head with Seed Pearl Centre

A delicately designed Lapel Pin or Stick Pin, from France and dating from the very early 1900's. The pin is in the original box with a padded antique velvet bed and satin-lined lid. 

The head of the pin is designed as a small Forget-Me-Not flower, with brilliant cut golden petals and a tiny seed pearl at the centre. Two French Hallmarks are on the pin itself; one for the maker and one for the gold. The gold is extremely high quality and soft - the antique marks are very difficult to see, but the Maker's Mark has an Anchor in the centre of the 'lozenge' stamp (the lozenge is common to French gold marks) with a 'P' to the left side and another letter letter to the right. At a time of high romance, this very pretty little pin was most likely presented as a love token, with the Forget-Me-Not symbolising separation. A truly romantic Gift.

The sharp end of the pin is protected by a high quality brass antique end stopper - the little bulb at the end is pulled to release the pin from its very secure grip. A truly high quality antique item, in the original green coloured box decorated with a thin silver trim. The velvet bed for the pin is removable to make it easier to take the pin out; there is a small silk ribbon tab at one side to pull it up, and both ends of the bed are shaped to allow lifting. The pin is 2.5" long, without the stopper.
