Taxidermy Moorhen - French Vintage -  Marsh Hen or Common Gallinule - Taxidermy France - Taxidermy Bird - French Moorhen TX

We have seen a few birds of this type before, but never with this unusual type of mount; it seems to be an old hollowed-out vine root or similar. A perfect base for showing off this beautiful black water bird with its stunning orange-red beak. It has been exceptionally modelled by a skilful taxidermist to achieve an outstanding Vintage Interior Design Piece. A wonderful and characterful specimen - we would love to see him go to a good home.

This is a typical piece of French decorative design from a time when Taxidermy was very much in vogue and was an indication of the owner's intelligence and culture. In France, this bird is know as a "poule d'eau" - a water hen.

Dimensions are 280mm / 11" long tail to beak, 225mm / 9.5" high and around 150mm / 6" deep.

This little bird will be carefully packed and shipped with the Irish An Post registered service.
