Unusual Antique Ebonised French Crucifix with Silvered Corpus - 11.75"- France 1800s - Wall Hanging French Crucifix - RC147

 

A highly unusual, old Crucifix; the curved, ebonised wood of the cross is the perfect background for the silver plated Corpus which is very well cast with good detail and this has been well polished to show the bronze beneath in areas. There is some writing on the back that we cannot decipher.

The wooden cross has a soft sheen, smooth chamfered ends and is 11.75" in height and 6.5" in width (30 x 16cm).  The body of Christ is 5.25" high and 4" wide (13 x 10cm).  The total weight is 250g without any packaging. The silvered figure is attached to the cross with three pins. The original brass loop is attached to the back of the wooden cross, for wall mounting
