Antique French Pendant Crucifix - French Silver - Beautifully Simple Style - Well loved and Beautifully Worn - Hanging Pendant - RJ06

A superbly made and simply shaped Solid Silver pendant crucifix, made in France at the start of the Twentieth Century, before 1910. We have no information on the maker as it is unmarked. After many years of handling, some of the details n the figure of Christ have been smoothed away, leaving the piece beautifully smooth and tactile. It appears in places, that the silver of the 'fabric' of the Loincloth is so thin that it has tiny pinprick-sized holes, worn through by hands at prayer and perhaps polishing - as can be seen on the photographs.

The cross measures 2.5" or 6cm in height, by 1.25" (3cm) wide. This is a really lovely piece with superb patina and the gorgeous feel of true antiquity.
